Today was the UIL competition for our school district. Back in October, the elementary school held try outs for different types of UIL teams. Maile tried out for the "storytelling" team and she made it! So for the past 2 months, they have had practice twice a week and had to get to school 45 minutes early. For the competition today, they read a story to the group and then each contestant had to go in front of a judge all by herself and "retell" it. They were judged on eye contact, expression, clarity, and if the story made sense. Maile made it past the 1st round and competed in the finals where they got another story to "retell". She was so excited when they posted the scores and she got 1st place!!
