...to hike the Y!
Kenny and I both have hiked up to the Y on the side of the mountain when we were teenagers and I thought it would be fun this time if we took the kids. Okay, let me just say, it was so much harder than I remember and we won't be doing that again for many many years!! It was a very steep climb and almost as hard to come down as it was to go up. Only the 3 older kids came which ended up being a good thing. We were feeling the burn...whooh! About 1/2 the way up the mountain, there were a group of teenagers coming down. I looked up and saw a girl coming towards me and realized it was one of my girls (Elisha) from when I was a leader in YW's! I hadn't seen her in over 2 years - we were on the same mountain at the same time! Ahhhh...tender mercy! It was so awesome to see her for a brief moment and catch up....I still think about those girls I taught and it was such a relief to see how well she was doing!
I did a little shopping with kellye that afternoon (there is so much stuff you can get there and not here) and then went back to Gary and Connie's for more shopping and dinner. Kenny played a little golf with his Dad and then came back to my sister-in-law's house and hung out until about 1:30 in the morning, went to bed, and woke up at 4:45 to head home to TX.
It was such a fun trip but not long enough!! There were so many places I still wanted to go but ran out of time for. We are now driving home and I think I'll now go relieve Kenny.

A few years ago (also in July though) I took Justin to hike the Y. I think the combination of us being a bit out of shape and it being July and a little warm out made us feel like we would die! I think the next time I decide to do something like that I need to make sure a)it is cooler and b)I feel like I am in excellent shape. It really is a difficult hike!
The last time we hiked to the Y was 6 years ago with Emma and Ben. Emma ran up the side of the mountain while we had to stop every two seconds to get Ben (he got distracted by every piece of dirt he saw on the trail-lol). We haven't attempted it since.
Glad you guys had a great time in UT!
it would be so interesting to hike it now. i hiked that on a whim at like midnight with some guys we just met after being at college for like 3 days! oh to be 18 again. glad your kids got to do it.
