The Recipe

By demand, here it is!

No Fail Homemade Cinnamon Rolls!

In bowl, mix:
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. crisco
3/4 c. sugar

Boil 2 cups of water and pour over the above flour mixture. Let cool. While letting this cool, prepare yeast mixture in a separate bowl - 2 TBSP yeast with 1 cup of warm water.

Continue adding this to the first bowl:
2 eggs
yeast mixture

Then add:
1 c. wheat or white flour
1 c. oatmeal
1 TBSP Baking Powder

Mix well. Start adding an additional 1 cup of flour at a time until dough is no longer sticky (about 3-4 cups of flour total). Let rise until double in size. Then roll out onto counter. Spread softened butter, and sprinkle a good layer of cinnamon and sugar. Cut dough into long strips, about 1 inch wide, and roll up. Lay on pan and let them rise for about another 30 minutes or so. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until light brown.
Glaze: Use powdered sugar and water or you can use powdered sugar, butter and milk. It should form a like a wet icing - pour over hot cinnamon roll.

A tip to slicing cinnamon rolls that Lisa Walton taught me: don't slice the dough into strips and then roll up, but roll all the dough up as one big piece, then use thread to slice the individual rolls. They turn out perfect everytime!
